Arden and Harry Fisher to Receive 2017 Visionary Award
September 28, 2017

At the Donor Recognition dinner on Nov. 9, Webster University will recognize Arden and Harry Fisher for their years of commitment to the Community Music School of Webster University. These incredible philanthropists have dedicated themselves to giving aspiring musicians opportunities to reach their dreams.
The Fishers’ love of music began when they were young, and both were eager to share their passion with future generations. In 2000, the Fishers endowed the Arden and Harry Fisher Woodwind Scholarship for the Community Music School of Webster University. The following year, they established a second endowed scholarship, the Arden and Harry Fisher Piano Scholarship. The Fishers’ scholarships have benefited nearly 50 Community Music School students.
Inspired by their grandson’s participation in a student composition program in Oregon, the Fishers approached the Community Music School about creating a similar program in St. Louis. In 2004, the Young Composers Competition was established, and in 2010 the Fishers created an endowed fund to ensure it would continue. This open competition now receives submissions from young people ages 12 to 21 from across the United States and around the world.
Webster University is honored to recognize Arden and Harry Fisher for enriching the St. Louis community through their support of the Community Music School of Webster University.
