Recent professional news and achievements for Webster University community members include:
Conservatory Professor Teaches Intensive in Argentina
Gad Guterman, associate professor in the Conservatory of Theatre Arts, was invited by the Universidad Nacional de Cuyo in Mendoza, Argentina, to teach a four-day intensive course in Contemporary Anglophone Drama.
The students in the class are in a graduate program that trains teachers of English in Argentina. One of the students in the class (in the foreground in the photograph at left) is Mercedes Romero Day, who spent the 2016-2017 academic year here at Webster, working with Spanish teachers and students in the Department of International Languages and Cultures.
Student Wins 2018 Oregon International Film Award
Eva Moentmann, a School of Communications student, won an Oregon International Film Award, among Oregon's most prestigious film honors in independent cinema and screenwriting.
Moentmann is a senior from Columbia, Missouri, majoring in film, television and video production.
The film she directed, "The Talk Revised," received a Platinum Award in the category of Student Films. Platinum is the highest of four recognition levels at the Oregon International Film Awards.
Electronic Resources Librarian wins IUG Conference Scholarship
Paula Albers, Electronic Resources Librarian, won the Robin Kespohl IUG Conference Scholarship through the MOBIUS Consortium.
Innovative Users Group (IUG) is an organization of member libraries who use Innovative Interfaces, Inc integrated library software. Albers will attend her first IUG conference in May 2019.
Nives Rumenjak at the ASEEES Convention in Boston
Nives Rumenjak, head of the International Relations Department at Webster Leiden, was one of this year's recipients of the new ASEEES Convention Opportunity Travel Grant.
For 10 years, Rumenjak has been attending this convention to enjoy scholarly exchange and numerous panel discussions at the Annual Convention of the Association for Slavic, East European, and Eurasian Studies (ASEEES).
