Sigma Iota Rho National Honor Society Induction

On Sunday, April 15 the Eta Alpha Chapter of the Sigma Iota Rho National Honor Society for International Studies (SIR) inducted nine new members from across Webster’s global network.

The chapter’s faculty advisor, Kelly-Kate Pease, provided a warm welcome to students, faculty, friends and family who gathered for the event at the H. Sam Priest Center. Opening statements were followed by invited keynote speaker and Webster alumni, Tyler Holman, who delivered moving remarks about the value of engaging in international affairs using personal examples of his experiences visiting Rwanda and working with international students and alums in the St. Louis area.

The 2018 Inductees were presented with a certificate confirming membership, graduation regalia, a SIR lapel pin, and the latest copy of SIR’s Journal of International Relations. The new members will also be provided with opportunities to connect with SIR’s extensive alumni network, apply for scholarships and research grant funding, present and publish research, and attend conferences within the field of international affairs.

The ceremony concluded with final remarks by Eta Alpha Chapter President, Olivia Potter, and was immediately followed by light appetizers and a toast to the new members.

The Department of History, Politics, and International Relations would like to congratulate the following 2018 inductees: Michelle Delbert, Shannon Clark, Judith Agyenium-Boateng, Monica Hagelstine, Hannah Kitners, Dayla Ramsey, Chris Smith, Nathan Webb, and Kelsey Wheatley.

SIR Membership is open to undergraduate and graduate students who meet certain qualifications, including exemplary academics as demonstrated by GPA and substantial coursework in a relevant subject area.
