Webster University has appointed Cheryl Fritz as interim Chief Human Resources Officer, effective Sept. 1.

Fritz joined Webster University in 2010 as Manager, Benefits and Compensation, and later became Director, Benefits & Compensation, before assuming her current role as Director, Total Rewards. She was a 2015 fellow in Webster’s Global Leadership Academy.

“Cheryl is well known among her Webster colleagues and has touched each of us with the contributions she has made in her Total Rewards role. She understands the important role faculty and staff have in supporting Webster’s mission,” said Webster University President Elizabeth (Beth) J. Stroble. “We look forward to the insights she will bring to this position.”

“Cheryl has already made significant contributions to Webster’s operations through her oversight of benefit cost management, retirement plan oversight, wellness, and human resources system expansion,” said Julian Schuster, Webster’s provost, senior vice president and chief operating officer. “In this new role, she will continue her important leadership on behalf of human resources at Webster.”

Prior to Webster, Fritz gained over 20 years of experience within the Mercy system in management roles covering benefits, compensation and human resources systems. At Mercy, Fritz was involved in the strategic aligning of the Human Resources department, as well as the health system’s business transformation and change management.

She holds a Bachelor of Business Administration magna cum laude from Truman State University and received a Master of Human Resources Management with honors from Webster University in 2013. Her professional certifications include Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) through the Society of Human Resources Management and Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) with WorldatWork.
