Webster Uzbekistan Welcomes New Students at Spring Orientation

Webster University in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, greeted its first Spring cohorts, welcoming approximately 70 undergraduate students at the final registration process on Jan. 10.
The new Gorloks participated in ice breaker exercises to learn about each other. The activities resulted in laughter, some students realizing they had mutual acquaintances and new friendships. At the end of the orientation, students were introduced to various staff at Webster Tashkent, and heard about student life on campus at an assembly.
Graduate orientation was held on Jan. 6 in the evening. The ten new MBA students had the opportunity to meet Webster staff and campus leadership, as well as learn more about the university's values and academics.
Webster is the first university in Uzbekistan to introduce a system with multiple intakes a year. To date, the campus has over 600 students in undergraduate and graduate programs. In the Spring 2020 semester, the number of out-of-country faculty and staff has risen to 14. Among them is Maggie Dankert, deputy academic director, who joins the Tashkent staff from her previous role as international credential specialist in the Office of Admission at Webster's main campus in St. Louis.
