Webster Athens Welcomes Students from 20 Countries for Fall

Students on the rooftop in AthensTo open the fall 2021 term, Webster Athens welcomed students from over 20 different countries. On Friday, Sept. 10, 2021, the Office of Student Affairs and Student Council organized a welcome reception for the new incoming students on the rooftop terrace of the academic and administrative building, with the view of the Acropolis in the background.

Several students who participated in the event expressed their gratification in being able to meet socially and acquaint themselves with each other outside of class. Protocols for COVID -19 were followed with students wearing facial coverings when entering the building and by declaring their vaccination status. They were able to remove the masks when they were outdoors on the rooftop terrace.

The director of Student Affairs at Webster Athens, Dina Skias, was on hand to welcome the students and wish them a good beginning on behalf of all Webster Athens faculty and staff. She also encouraged them to get involved in the various extra-curricular activities and events on and off campus.

They were joined by four alumni of the Odyssey in Athens study abroad program, three who happened to be vacationing in Athens at the time and one who returned to Webster Athens to complete a MA in International Relations. They shared their personal stories of their semesters abroad with Webster Athens. The students enjoyed hearing their stories and advice, and exchanged contact information with them.
