Webster Places 79 Student Athletes on SLIAC All-Academic Team
June 08, 2021
Webster University had 79 student athletes named to the 2020-2021 St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) All-Academic Team, the highest total from any school in the conference.
Unlike previous seasons when the SLIAC would release an All-Academic Team three times during the fall, winter and spring sports seasons, this year, the league lumped all three sports seasons into one due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
The Webster men's soccer team led the way with 13 overall players selected, while the women's soccer team had 12 selections and baseball had 11 players honored. The softball team had nine selections, while the volleyball and women's tennis teams each had seven selections and the women's cross country/track team had six selections. The women's basketball team had five players honored, while the men's golf team had four players recognized. The men's tennis team had three and men's cross country and track team had two selections, while the men's basketball and men's track team had one overall selection.
This year's 2020-2021 SLIAC All-Academic Teams had a total of 400 student-athletes receive All-Academic honors from around the conference. In order to earn All-Academic Team honors a student-athlete must hold a 3.5 cumulative grade point average, be at least a sophomore in academic standing and have been enrolled in at least one full year at their current institution.
