The admissions officers teamed up with faculty to tour the autonomous Republic of Karakalpakstan, as well as Samarkand, Bukhara, Fergana, Navoi, and Khorezm regions. During the trips, they visited schools, academic lyceums, and educational centers. During the process, they engaged more than 700 high school students about Webster’s programs, philosophy, and opportunities.

After the road show team’s visit to School Number 37 in Nukus, Karakalpakstan, Zulkumor, a student, shared: “We are so excited to know that Webster University is giving a chance to get internationally recognized diploma ... My dream is to visit USA and I would definitely apply to [the] Study Abroad program, maybe even several times.”

Each presentation involved admission and academic program information on current Tashkent undergraduate majors: Business Administration, Economics, Management Information Systems, International Relations, and Media Studies. There were also questions and answers with potential applicants, prizes, and meetings with high school directors and other management.

Some of the students who participated are already on their way to becoming Gorloks. Saidmukhammad, a senior at the Academic Lyceum Number 1 in Fergana city, said, “I have been already admitted to Fall 2021 and eager to start studies. Today I have learnt a lot about the university I was dreaming to study in. I am very happy to see the Webster team in my city as currently regional applicants cannot visit Tashkent.”

School visits in Uzbekistan

At the end of the road show, the team members explained that they enjoyed traveling around the country and meeting with different applicants.

“The trips are a great experience to improve knowledge about our applicants and make regions outside Tashkent get involved with Webster. This was the first time I traveled outside Tashkent and I loved it," said Bakhtiyor Akhmedov, Admission Officer at Webster Tashkent.

One of the foreign faculty in Tashkent teaching students in the Management Information Systems major, Nitin Goje, also shared: “I liked the attitude of the applicants. The students in Uzbekistan are talented and they understand that they are the future of the country. I am proud to be part of the recruitment.”

Visits to cities outside Tashkent are key for spreading accurate information about Webster University in Tashkent and making meaningful connections with future Gorloks.
