Jerry Chang Earns 2nd Place at Kaufman International Music Competition in New York

Community Music School student Jerry Chang, piano, earned second place at the Kaufman International Music Competition Junior II Division. Chang studies with Professors Zena Ilyashov and Sasha Starcevich.

The competition was held at the prestigious Merkin Hall in Manhattan. Chang was one of 25 semi-finalists and seven finalists in the Junior II Division.

Founded in 1952, the Kaufman Music Center is a nonprofit music education and performance organization that is home to Merkin Hall; Lucy Moses School, a community arts school for all ages; Special Music School, a public school that teaches music as a core subject; and the acclaimed youth new music program Face the Music.
