Students in a Suzuki classThe Suzuki Strings program at the Community Music School will resume efforts to provide community outreach concerts.

Currently, three events are scheduled:

  • Mason Pointe: Saturday, Oct. 29 at 3 p.m.
  • The Magic House: Sunday, Nov. 20 at 1 p.m.
  • Mary Culver Home: Saturday, Dec. 10 at 3 p.m.

“We are thrilled to be resuming our community performance program!" said Suzuki violin instructor and CMS Conductor Graham Woodland. "These started back in 2019 and were shown to be an enjoyable and memorable experience for the students.

“One reason for working hard in lessons and home practice is to cultivate skills that support and lead to a successful performance. In addition to being imperative to the student’s progress on their instrument, public performance provides an opportunity to inspire, move, and share the joy of music with an audience. We recognize the need for music in our community and believe in its ability to comfort, heal, and unite. Please be on the lookout for more information in the coming weeks as we relaunch this exciting initiative.”

Since 1973, the Suzuki Strings program at the Community Music School has educated young string students in this unique method of instruction based on the philosophy and teaching of the late Japanese educator Shinichi Suzuki.  For more information about the Suzuki Strings program please visit the program webpage.  If you are interested in hosting a community performance, please contact grahamwoodland14@webster.edu.
