Remembering Jerry Ritter

Former Webster University Board of Trustee Jerry Eatherly Ritter passed away on Sunday,
Aug. 21. Ritter was the executive vice-president and chief financial and administration
officer of Anheuser-Busch Companies until his retirement. He also served on numerous
corporate and nonprofit boards throughout the St. Louis region.
“When I started my tenure at Webster in 2009, he was serving as chair of the Webster Works! Comprehensive Campaign that raised approximately $56.5 million for the University,” said Webster University Chancellor Elizabeth (Beth) J. Stroble. “He was very committed to finding ways to give back to the community and led the way for others to support the community’s goals through his own example and generosity.”
Ritter served on the University’s Board of Trustees from 2004 to 2013. In addition to chairing the Webster Works! Comprehensive Campaign until its completion in 2011, he also served on the Compensation Committee, the Development Committee (now renamed the Advancement Committee), the Trustee Development Committee and the Executive Committee.
