Three Webster Students Awarded Rubinstein Music Club Alice Schindler Awards

Kaitlyn George, Theresa Monteleone, and Darek Kosinski

The Rubinstein Music Club of St. Louis annually grants the Alice Schindler awards to promising music students in the St. Louis region. This year's recipients included Webster University music students Kaitlyn George (Bachelor of Music Vocal Performance), Darek Kosinski (Bachelor of Music Piano Performance), and Theresa Monteleone (Bachelor of Music Violin Performance). Students were selected based on recommendations from faculty and their primary applied music teacher and received a cash award.

Each recipient was required to perform for 15 minutes in a group recital held at the Steinway Gallery in Maryland Heights. The students were required to show professionalism and perform the piece from memory. Adjunct professor Mieko Hironaka Berget served as a collaborative pianist for George and Monteleone’s performances.

"Darek, Kaitlyn and Theresa all did an incredible job at the awards recital," said Gary L. Scott, vice president of the Rubinstein Music Club. "They performed with confidence and poise and displayed a deep understanding of the works they selected. All three possessed a keen sense of phrasing, intonation and dynamics. Webster should be justifiably proud of them.”

“We are so proud of our students and grateful to the Rubinstein Music Club for recognizing their artistry," said Carla Colletti, chair of the Department of Music. "Their dedication to communicating through music is inspiring.”
