Webster Begins Search for a New Chancellor

Webster University has launched an extensive global search for the next chancellor. This role is the top leadership position for the University and will be responsible for all aspects of leading the global institution.

To assist with the search, the Webster University Board of Trustees retained an international search firm with a dedicated higher education search practice that includes consultants across the Americas, Europe, and Asia. A Chancellor Search Committee, led by a member of the Board of Trustees with extensive human resources experience, has been formed. Members of that committee represent stakeholder groups including faculty, deans, staff, alumni, students and trustees, many of whom are also donors. In the coming weeks, a survey will be sent to a large group of stakeholders.

Working with the search firm, the Committee also held several focus groups to better understand the community’s expectations of the capabilities needed in the next chancellor.

The selection and interview process is confidential and interviews with potential candidates will be conducted by the Committee. Final interviews may include a very limited number of additional individuals necessary to ensure a complete assessment. The decision to maintain confidentiality about candidates is taken to ensure the University can attract actively employed, highly qualified individuals, many who currently hold positions at other institutions.

A website regarding details about the Chancellor search is now live. The website will include a prospectus, including a job description, for potential candidates to reference. Future updates will appear on the website.
