Webster University Named to the Phi Theat Kappa Transfer Honor Roll for the 10th Consecutive Year

For the 10th consecutive year, Webster University’s support and services for transfer students earned the University a spot on the national Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) Transfer Honor Roll. PTK is an organization focused on the academic achievements of transfer students. The list recognizes the four-year institutions that make it easier for students who start in the community college level to earn a bachelor’s degree.

More than 1,100 colleges and universities applied to be on the list, and 275 were selected. Webster is one of four Missouri institutions to make the list.

“Webster is dedicated to helping our students thrive. We have accelerated the number of programs and amount of support offered to transfer students as we recognize that more students than ever before are selecting to start their academic journey at a community college,” said Sr. Vice President of Enrollment Management Lisa Blazer. “Besides making it much easier to transfer credits between institutions, Webster also offers generous scholarships, academic support and specialized programs that help transfer students finish their degree in four years, the opportunity to study abroad, and in some cases get an early start on a master’s degree.”

Programs and scholarships offered by Webster University to transfer students include:

• Phi Theta Kappa Distinguished Achievement full-tuition scholarship: Awarded annually to two incoming transfer students attending the Webster Groves home campus who are PTK members and demonstrate high academic achievement and leadership experience.
• Phi Theta Kappa scholarship: $1,000 awarded to all full-time transfer students attending the Webster Groves home campus with proof of PTK membership.
• Transfer Academic Scholarships ranging from $11,000-17,000 per year.
• Presidential Transfer full-tuition scholarship: Awarded to five incoming transfer students attending the Webster Groves home campus who maintain a cumulative 3.5 GPA and have significant community involvement and/or leadership experience.
• Dual admissions and transfer credit agreements with more than a dozen institutions across the Midwest and East Coast, facilitating seamless transitions for nursing, communications, computer science and other students into bachelor’s degree programs and dual bachelor’s/master’s degree tracks at Webster,.
• Making it easier for students to transfer honors credits and continue their education without repeating courses.
• Heartland Promise program: With Jefferson Community College, providing scholarships to offset tuition, books, and room and board for students pursuing four-year degrees.
• Transfer guides and support: Detailed pathways for various programs, informational meetings, personalized admission counseling, and orientation activities like the Connection Leaders program and a Facebook group for networking.

Other factors that make it easier for students to transfer into Webster University include:

• Easy, cost-free application: Applications can initially be submitted with unofficial transcripts and receive a provisional admissions decision promptly, granting students early access to campus opportunities.
• Competitive scholarships: Webster University offers numerous competitive and supplemental scholarship opportunities.
• Personalized application process: Prospective students are also offered opportunities for personalized meetings with faculty and shadowing classes a class to experience Webster firsthand.
• Holistic admissions process: Applicants can advocate for themselves, even if their GPA falls below Webster’s minimum standards. Admission’s staff values a student’s whole story, which helps critically evaluate a student’s ability to be successful.
• Transfer credit evaluation: Every admitted transfer student receives an unofficial transfer credit evaluation, ensuring clarity on how credits apply toward a degree. Webster University accepts up to 90 credit hours.
