New Webster University and St. Charles Community College Partnership Makes it Easier for Students to Earn Anthropology and Sociology Degrees

St. Charles Community College (SCC) students earning an Associate of Arts in General Transfer Studies can easily transfer  to Webster University’s Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology and Sociology program under a new partnership between the two institutions. Under this agreement, students can move into a bachelor’s program without having to repeat courses and finish a bachelor’s degree within two years after earning their associate degree.

This is the first agreement between SCC and Webster. It is among numerous similar agreements Webster has with community colleges throughout the Mid-West and East Coast that has established the University as a premier destination for community college students looking to transition into a four-year bachelor’s program. 

“Webster’s Anthropology and Sociology program gives students a valuable understanding of how people, communities, and social systems work and helps translate those skills into a wide range of careers, from health and medicine to business, finance, and technology,” said Elsa Fan, interim dean of the College of Humanities and Social Sciences. “We recognize that students are eager to advance their careers sooner, and our goal is to facilitate the transition from community college to Webster as seamlessly as possible by giving them the resources and tools they need to succeed.”

In the past decade, Webster has entered into agreements with more than a dozen community college institutions and currently offers dozens of options for community college students. Webster also offers scholarships and other financial aid for transfer students, academic assistance to ease the transition, and opportunities to take part in Webster’s famous study-abroad programs.  

Even the application process has been simplified for transfer students at Webster. The University offers: 

• Easy, cost-free application: Applications can initially be submitted with unofficial transcripts and receive a provisional admissions decision promptly, granting students early access to campus opportunities.
• Personalized application process: Prospective students are also offered opportunities for personalized meetings with faculty and shadowing classes a class to experience Webster firsthand.
• Holistic admissions process: Applicants can advocate for themselves, even if their GPA falls below Webster’s minimum standards. Admissions staff value a student’s whole story, which helps critically evaluate a student’s ability to be successful.
• Transfer credit evaluation: Every admitted transfer student receives an unofficial transfer credit evaluation, ensuring clarity on how credits apply toward a degree. Webster University accepts up to 90 credit hours.
