GLA Continues Fall Week

The 2017 Global Leadership Academy cohort continued its fall week Tuesday with a deep dive into learning-centered leadership facilitated by Paul Paese, principal of Paese Management Consulting.
Tuesday night, they saw an example of leadership as cultivated among Webster students with presentations from students whoa re in the Webster LEADS program.
Wednesday's activities include a wide cross-section of units within Webster University.
The morning began with a session on partnering with Advancement and alumni led by Patty Arnold, vice president of Advancement, and Peter Sargent, dean of the Leigh Gerdine College of Fine Arts. They discussed the culture of philanthropy at Webster and how alumni engagement and fundraising are connected.
That was followed by group activities and a lunch panel with representatives from Global Marketing and Communications, including chief communications officer Rick Rockwell and GLA alumni Jennifer Starkey and Dominik Jansky. They gave an overview of GMC operations and the planning, leadership, decision-making and collaboration among GMC's strategic communications, public relations, digital marketing and marketing and creative services units.
Wednesday afternoon includes sessions on inclusive leadership led by Betsy Schmutz, chief human resources officer, and Nicole Roach, associate vice president for Diversity and Inclusion. Their sessions include strategies for cultivating an inclusive leadership culture, plus interactive sessions to practice positive micromessaging.
On Thursday the GLA fellows head to Scott Air Force Base to get a deeper look into a military campus location and also discuss online programs with Michael Cottam, dean and associate vice president of Military Campuses and Online Education.
Then on Friday comes final group project presentations and graduation after a year of engaging in leadership and understanding of the broader Webster network.
