Webster University graduate academic advisors Genesis Steele and Jordan Wienke were awarded Best of Conference at the 2018 MACADA (Missouri Academic Advising Association) Conference for their presentation titled, “Advising on an Island.”

Their presentation focused on self-care, burn-out prevention, and professional development in the age of the higher education budget crunch. They also discussed how to best serve students as an academic advisor using all available resources at different types of educational institutions.

Steele and Wienke were partially funded through Webster Staff Alliance to attend this conference.

Now they have been invited to do their presentation at a regional advising conference in San Antonio in March 2019.

Susan Schultz
Susan Schultz, Webster Scott AFB

Susan Schultz, director at Webster's Scott Air Force Base, Illinois, location, has been selected to be an Honorary Base Commander. The purpose of this relatively new program is to build better connectivity between the communities, businesses and organizations that the Honorary Commander represents as a partner with Scott AFB. This opportunity will allow Schultz to learn more about Scott's strategic role and its impact with the St. Louis region.

The program is a two year term. Schultz will be paired with a military senior leader and will receive special invitations to unit tours, commander's calls, promotion/retirement/change of command ceremonies, and other special events.

Schultz was recommended for the position by other leaders in the region from her work building relationships and access to education in the area. She was informed by the base commander and will be formally inducted in a ceremony on Oct. 19 for the  2018-2020 Honorary Commanders Class.
