Four Webster University alumni were among the class of 2019 40 Under 40 honorees (read more about them in the links to the Business Journal profiles):

Dan Dokovic: (MBA ’06), Intelica CRE and Bamboo Equity Partners

"Growing up in Croatia during the war for independence, I dreamed about coming to the United States," recalls Dokovic in his Business Journal profile. "This wish came true when I was 17 — my duffel bag and I flew to Quincy, Illinois, to play basketball. By an unfortunate set of events, my basketball career vanished shortly after landing, but with the help of generous people I met along the way, I graduated from Westminster College where I met my wife, a native St. Louisan. After getting my start in corporate real estate, I co-founded Intelica CRE in 2010. Since then, I have led the growth of the company from three employees to 40 while increasing transactions to over $100 million a year. In addition, in 2012 I co-founded Bamboo Equity Partners. Since inception, Bamboo has created over $20 million of value for investors (a 27 percent increase) in an office and industrial portfolio valued at over $91 million."

Karen Englert (MAT, '10), American Heart Association

As director of government relations for the American heart Association Englert says she works "to create a healthier Missouri by engaging with our legislature, local governments, relevant agencies, and volunteer advocates to advance policy. I strive to educate and influence decision makers to improve public health. Over the years I have helped craft and pass policies to prevent tobacco addiction, ensure access to quality care, improve the chain of survival, and improve access to healthy foods and beverages. I am most proud of my involvement with passing a statewide 911 bill to provide protections for all Missourians after an eight-year battle. I also work to increase charitable giving to our organization by speaking at events across the country."

"I really enjoy building strong teams, and helping others achieve success," she told the Business Journal. "I would be most proud to see my colleagues rise and have a meaningful impact on St Louis, wherever their careers may lead them."
