Adjustment to Graduate Program Modalities for Fall 2020 at U.S. Locations

Academic deans, in collaboration with department chairs and faculty, have made decisions to adjust the modalities of some graduate programs. Decisions were made based on a variety of factors, including input from academic partners, employers, and students.

Below is a list, by School and College, of programs that will adjust modality. (The list is up to date as of July 30, 2020, and covers programs offered at locations in the U.S. For information on international campus graduate offerings, contact the appropriate campus.) If a program is not listed below, there is no change to the modality.

Please be aware that these and other course modality plans are subject to change based on evolving conditions and capacity related to the pandemic. Our priority remains to provide a high-quality academic experience for students while adhering to on-campus safety measures for the health of our entire community.

Students in these programs do not need to re-register for classes; instead, by mid-August, the course schedule will reflect the new modality of the courses in programs below.

Students in the programs listed below should contact their assigned academic advisor if they have questions or need to make changes in their Fall course schedules.

George Herbert Walker School of Business & Technology

• Courses in all graduate programs will be offered in three modalities for Fall 1 and Fall 2: Face-to-face, WebNet+ (remote), and online.
• Some face-to-face courses will be converted to WebNet+ as needed based on: 1) requirement of local authority, such as military base commands; 2) instructor accommodation to teach remotely.

College of Arts & Sciences

• MA in Counseling programs will be offered remotely Fall 1; a decision on Fall 2 will be made at a later date.
• MSN (Master of Science in Nursing) will be offered remotely Fall 1 and Fall 2.
• MA in Human Services will be offered in a hybrid model Fall 1 and Fall 2.
• MA in International Relations will be offered in a hybrid model Fall 1 and Fall 2.
• The Graduate Certificate in Paralegal Studies will be offered in a hybrid model Fall 1 and Fall 2.

School of Communications

Four master’s degrees will be offered Online in Fall 1 and Fall 2:

• MA in Communication Management
• MA in Advertising and Marketing Communication
• MA in Media Communication
• MA in Public Relations

The MA in New Media Production will be offered in a mix of face-to-face and remote modalities in Fall 1 and Fall 2.

Leigh Gerdine College of Fine Arts

• MFA in Arts Management and Leadership will be offered remotely Fall 1; a decision on Fall 2 will be made at a later date.
• Graduate programs in Music, Composition, Jazz Studies and Performance will be offered in hybrid modality in Fall 1; a decision on Fall 2 will be made at a later date.

School of Education

• The Doctor of Education program (EdD) will be offered remotely Fall 1 and Fall 2.
• The MAT (Master of Arts in Teaching) program will be offered in multiple modalities in Fall 1 and Fall 2.

Undergraduate Programs and Courses:

The information above applies to specific graduate programs only. For undergraduate programs on the main campus in Webster Groves, Webster plans to offer courses in a variety of modalities – face-to-face, remote, online, and hybrid. Faculty and staff are working to ensure that face-to-face experiences are offered with the highest attention to safety and security for our students and faculty.

More information is forthcoming, and information on adjustments to the modalities of undergraduate courses will be available by mid-August. Students will be encouraged to work with Academic Advising if they wish to make changes in their schedules.
