Webster and St. Louis Community College Expand Transfer Options for Students

Webster University

Webster University and St. Louis Community College (STLCC) are adding eight academic paths that make it easier for STLCC students to pursue bachelor’s and master’s degrees. This is part of an ongoing campaign by Webster to meet the needs of the growing population of college students starting their academic journeys at community colleges.

Last year, Webster and STLCC added four transfer paths to the Leigh Gerdine College of Fine Arts. Today’s announcement adds School of Communications programs, increasing the number of options that community college students have for earning bachelor's or master's degrees to 27.

“These agreements will make it easier for community college students to seamlessly transfer into a four-year undergraduate program, and two of those programs will allow the students to continue into a master’s program and finish the graduate degree within 12 months,” said Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs Thao Dang-Williams. “Overall, these articulation agreements will meet the students where they are now, letting them set their own educational paths while saving thousands of dollars.”

Under the new agreement, STLCC students enrolled in their Associate of Arts in General Transfer Studies and transfer up to 64 units into the following Webster academic paths:

  • Bachelor of Arts in Interactive Digital Media
  • Bachelor of Arts in Media Production
  • Bachelor of Arts in Media Production and Master of Arts in Strategic Communications
  • Bachelor of Arts in Sports Communications
  • Bachelor of Arts in Sports Communications and Master of Arts in Strategic Communications
  • Bachelor of Arts in Integrated Strategic Communications
  • Bachelor of Arts in Animation
  • Bachelor of Arts in Film, Video and Television Production.

This will add to Webster’s already robust options for community colleges include:

  • Southwestern Illinois College (SWIC) student can transfer into business administration or legal studies programs.
  • Goldfarb School of Nursing students and Webster biology students can simultaneously earn a BA in biology and BSN in nursing.
  • Biology students can attend the University of Heath Sciences and Pharmacy and simultaneously earn a bachelor’s in biology and doctorate in Pharmacy degree, saving the students an entire year of tuition costs and time.
  • Webster and Jefferson College have multiple agreements.  Jefferson College biology students to transfer into Webster’s biology degree; digital communications students can enter Webster’s media studies, integrated strategic communications, and media production programs; and AAS nursing students can transfer into Webster’s nursing program, earning a BSN degree.
  • Johnson County Community College game development students can transfer into Webster’s games and game design program.
