Mandatory Title IX Training: All Students, Employees to complete by Feb. 21

As previously announced in December 2019, Title IX awareness and compliance training is required for all Webster all students, faculty and staff at all campus locations and will launch on Tuesday, Jan. 21, with training access emailed to Webster accounts. The Title IX Training Modules may also be accessed here.
The training was developed this fall by Webster’s Title IX Office in consultation with SafeColleges, an organization which administers an online training platform addressing critical issues like this.
Training Window Jan. 21-Feb. 21
The Title IX Office will allow participants 30 days to complete the required training. The Title IX Office will send two scheduled reminders to encourage timely completion of the training. SafeColleges will also send reminders. All students, faculty and staff at all Webster University campuses are expected to complete the training by Friday, Feb. 21.
Student Training Modules, Group Training Feb. 11 & 19
There are five specific student-training modules (Undergraduate, Graduate, International Students, Athletes, and Nontraditional Students). Should a student fall into two or more of the categories, they will receive the modules for each category that fits their specific qualifications.
Students are invited to come and enjoy complimentary snacks from the Title IX Office while completing the required training. The Title IX Office will host group viewing matinees of the mandatory training, with Title IX coordinators and Sipple leading a brief question and answer period following the viewing.
- Tuesday, Feb. 11, from 3-5 p.m. in the East Academic Building, room 102. Samantha Sipple, Webster’s
sexual offense advocate, will attend to assist students who may need support through
the training.
- Tuesday, Feb. 19, from 3-5 p.m. in the East Academic Building, room 102. A sexual offense advocate will attend to assist students who may need support through the training.
Employee Training Modules
All faculty and staff will receive the employee module. The employee module will take approximately 30 minutes to complete. The training is web-based and can be completed off campus if preferred.
Note: As a security reminder when using public computers such as computers in labs, log off from the SafeColleges module, close the browser and restart the computer after completing the training course.
Title IX Law
Title IX is crucial to the health and wellness of the Webster University community. Title IX is a comprehensive U.S. federal law that prohibits discrimination on the basis of sex in any federally funded education program or activity. The principal objective of Title IX is to avoid the use of federal money to support sex discrimination in education programs and to provide individual citizens effective protection against those practices. Title IX law prohibits sexual harassment as well as sexual violence such as rape, sexual assault, and sexual coercion; applies to all people regardless of gender; applies regardless of whether or not a criminal report is filed.
