Snapshots: Webster pride, traditions celebrated at Spirit Weekend
February 13, 2020

Over 500 students, parents, family members, faculty and staff came together Feb. 7-8 for Spirit Weekend 2020. The weekend gave parents an opportunity to see what college life is like for their student, as well as opportunities to have some fun. Home basketball games, Siblings Night and other events from the weekend celebrated Webster spirit.
"Spirit Weekend continues to accomplish our goals of engaging family members in the life of Webster University and bring together various groups of people to celebrate Webster pride, spirit and traditions," said Billy Ratz, director, Parent Engagement.

Friday Kick-Off
The weekend began with the Spirit Weekend Kick-off in the University Center Commons. Attendees were entertained and pumped up for the weekend by the Webster University Cheerleaders, Pep Band and a performance by the Webster a Capella group the Chordloks.
Younger siblings got the unique experience of staying with their Webster-student siblings in the residence halls and enjoying late night "minute-to-win-it" games with the Resident Assistants. The Multicultural Center and International Student Affairs team brought together family members to do as landscape artist Bob Ross did: paint happy little trees.

Saturday: Shopping, Basketball, Halls of Fame

Saturday began with breakfast in Marletto's for the whole family while members of the Parent Council went live on Facebook in an efffort to include parents that could not make it into town for the weekend. Over 120 parents from all over the world listened in for interviews with various Webster staff that answered questions dealing with the student life experience.
Parents then shopped in the bookstore for all their spirit needs before heading to the women's and men's home basketball games versus Principia College as both teams won big. The weekend came to an end with the Student Formal in Luhr Hall.
The weekend also included both the Student Life and Athletics Hall of Fames as eight alumni were recognized and celebrated for their accomplishments while students at Webster.
