Webster Launches the Saint Louis Community Scholarship Program

ST. LOUIS - Webster University launched the Saint Louis Community Scholarship today as part of its efforts to broaden its commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion in academic excellence in the St. Louis region. First-time, underserved college students residing either in North St. Louis County or the City of St. Louis will receive consideration for Saint Louis Community Scholarship upon application to admission at Webster University. The scholarship program begins for students seeking admission during the Fall 2021 semester.

“Webster University believes its focus on diversity, equity and inclusion not only cultivates academic excellence, but is building and strengthening the foundation of a just community,” said Webster University President Julian Z. Schuster. “Education is a key ingredient in our efforts to bring more equity in our nation and the world. The success of each individual strengthens our university, our communities and our society and builds a global dialogue where the distinct talent of the individual is honored.”

To be eligible for the annual $2,500 scholarship, students must:

• Have graduated from high school with a cumulative 3.0 GPA or higher.
• Reside in North St. Louis County or the City of St. Louis.
• Be a first-time college student.
• Enroll for 13 credit hours or more per semester.
• Demonstrate financial need as determined by the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

Students who maintain a 3.0 GPA and continue to file a new FAFSA each year while attending Webster can earn the scholarship for up to eight consecutive semesters or until they complete 120 credit hours of classes. The combination of this scholarship with other institutions aid cannot exceed tuition.

In the past decade, Webster University has doubled the number of endowed scholarships funds that are awarded to students. The Saint Louis Community Scholarship continues Webster commitment to access. According to statistics kept by the U.S Department of Education, 95% of all undergraduates at Webster University receive some type of financial aid.
