Webster Vienna Private University strongly condemns the violent acts committed in Vienna last night. We remain vigilant in our commitment to the safety and wellbeing of our students and the entire Webster community and express our deep sadness for the victims and their families.

Until now, we have had no reports that anyone in our community were among the victims. Nevertheless, we continue to monitor the situation closely and will provide our students, staff, faculty and the wider Webster community with updates.

Police activities are currently still going on in and around the first district and, therefore, public transportation may be impacted, among other disruptions. Viennese government officials are urging residents to stay indoors and away from central Vienna to allow police to focus on the security situation. We advise that everyone heed their request.

For added reassurance and wellbeing, we strongly encourage all of our students to reach out to their advisors and our counseling services if needed, as we are here to support and comfort them in the given circumstances. Viennese authorities have also announced added support through the Psychological Support 24-hour Hotline, at +43 1 31 330.

If you need any support or have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us at office.director@webster.ac.at.

Keep safe,

Johannes Pollak, Rector
