Webster International Network of Schools Welcomes St. Olaf

Founded in 1874 by Norwegian Lutheran immigrants, St. Olaf is a nationally ranked liberal arts college of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America located in Northfield, Minnesota. The college provides a liberal arts education while maintaining an academic center with a strong program for the study of Scandinavian culture; and serves a mission that challenges students to excel in the liberal arts, examine faith and values, and explore meaningful vocation in an inclusive, globally engaged community nourished by Lutheran tradition. St. Olaf’s rich tradition in music has gained worldwide renown for the college through its choirs and instrumental organizations.

This musical tradition drew St. Olaf to Webster University’s music program, developed by Jeffrey Carter for both Webster and WINS undergraduate students. Following a number of discussions between faculty and staff, and the WINS conference in 2019, St. Olaf has chosen the Vienna campus as a study abroad destination for music students or those in other majors including Psychology, International Relations, General Education and more. St. Olaf College’s undergraduate programs are offered in 41 different disciplines and subject areas in the natural and mathematical sciences, fine arts, social sciences, and humanities. The Music Department provides a professional bachelor of music degree with majors in performance, church music, theory and composition, music education and elective studies.

Through the International and Off-Campus Studies office, St. Olaf sends students to more than 40 countries each year, and boasted a 73 percent off-campus program participation rate with the class of 2020.
