CMS Student Eric Chen Advances to National MTNA Finals

Community Music School of Webster University student Eric Chen, violin (Pavel Ilyashov), has been named winner of the MTNA Competition - West Central Jr. Strings Division.

The West Central Division is composed of eight states, and Eric is one of seven finalists chosen for the national stage of this prestigious event. He is the only musician from Missouri that has been advanced to the national finals.

A special thanks to his brother Alex Chen, piano (Zena Ilyashov): After Eric’s usual accompanist fell ill, Alex stepped in and played the winning performance on only two days notice.
