Task Force Message for Beginning of Fall 2021 Term

The following message was distributed to Webster University community members on Aug. 18.

To the University Community,

Welcome to the 2021-2022 academic year! We have several positive announcements and great events in the works for this year and hope you will celebrate these achievements with us as we progress through the fall and spring.

In the past year, your attention to the community’s safety and adherence to the COVID-19 protocols allowed Webster University to report one of the lowest number of coronavirus infections among students, faculty and staff for all universities in St. Louis and other areas where we operate. Nevertheless, the pandemic is still with us and the University will continue to enforce safety protocols, including:

  • A requirement that all students, faculty and staff have started the vaccination process by the start of classes Monday and be fully vaccinated by Sept. 10. Exemptions are being allowed for those with legitimate medical concerns or religious objections, for those who are teaching or studying fully online, and for those teaching or studying in areas that are not allowing vaccine mandates. All students and employees should have received in the past month e-mailed instructions on how to upload your vaccination status to the University. If you have not yet responded with your vaccination status or requested an exemption, you need to respond immediately. Students with questions should contact Student Affairs (studentaffairs@webster.edu), while employees should contact Human Resources, humanresources@webster.edu.
  • Face masks are still required to be worn by everyone while indoors in the St. Louis, Missouri, region, regardless of vaccination status.
  • All unvaccinated people must wear masks and practice social distancing.
  • A full list of updated COVID-19 protocols and resources can be found online.

The University will continue to monitor health conditions and follow the guidance of the CDC and state and local health officials. These protocols may be modified several times during the school year as conditions in our communities change, so we urge all of you to regularly monitor your email for messages from the University.

We thank all of you who are working to keep us safe, and we look forward to a successful and productive year.
