Webster University Appoints Interim VP of Enrollment Management
March 15, 2021
Webster University has appointed James (Jamie) Loftus as its Interim Vice President for Enrollment Management, effective April 1.
Loftus comes to Webster from St. Ambrose University in Davenport, Iowa, where he has
twice led enrollment management, from 1998-2011 and returning in 2017 with the charge
to stabilize and grow enrollment. Upon returning to that role, he helped the university
stabilize its position amid increasing competition, changing student populations and
limited financial resources.
From 2011 to 2017 Loftus served as president of Cardinal Stritch University, a Catholic, Franciscan organization in Milwaukee. As president, he helped the university prioritize liberal arts and professional programs and promote core activities of teaching, learning, scholarship and service. He also led Cardinal Stritch’s strategic planning and successful re-accreditation efforts for 10-year HLC renewal, along with successful re-accreditation of all of its specialized colleges – Business (ACBSP), Education (NCATE) and Nursing (CCNE and ACEN).
“Jamie has extensive experience in leading enrollment management across various segments and a diverse program mix for mission-driven, accredited, tuition-dependent universities,” said Webster University President Julian Z. Schuster. “We look forward to him joining our team and sharing his leadership at an important time for Webster University.”
Prior to leading enrollment management at St. Ambrose in 1998, from 1990 Loftus served a series of leadership roles for St. Ambrose as director of adult degree completion and of professional development, as an academic program director, and an assistant dean for continuing education. He holds a Ph.D. in Planning, Policy, Leadership Studies from the University of Iowa, and an MBA and a BA in Psychology from the University of Notre Dame.
Loftus assumes this role with Webster after the departure of Chief Innovation Officer and Vice President of Enrollment Management John Pyle, who has returned to Minnesota to accept a position with St. Catherine University in St. Paul.
