Cummings Recognized as YWCA Leader of Distinction
November 10, 2022
Simone Cummings, dean of the George Herbert Walker School of Business & Technology
at Webster University, has been named a 2022 Leader of Distinction by the YWCA of
Metro St. Louis.
“I am truly honored and grateful to receive this recognition, and to be amongst a
group of such accomplished women who have done so much for St. Louis through their
various disciplines and areas of expertise,” said Cummings. “The YWCA has been dedicated
to the mission of eliminating racism and empowering women for more than 120 years.
The services they provide – crisis intervention, early education efforts, domestic
violence survival assistance and much more – are absolutely vital to the health and
success of both the individuals impacted and our region as a whole. To be a part of
that work is humbling and inspiring.”
This year marks the 42nd year that the YWCA has presented the prestigious honor, which aims to recognize the city’s most accomplished women; those whose work, leadership, volunteerism, and other philanthropic efforts throughout St. Louis and beyond have provided a stellar example of talent, persistence, exemplary work ethic and sisterhood.
Cummings and her fellow honorees were each nominated by their peers and then evaluated by a panel that considered their work history, community impact and other achievements.
In addition to her work with the YWCA, Cummings is also a board member of St. Louis Mosaic, St. Louis Children’s Hospital, St. Louis Regional Health Commission, Missouri History Museum Commission and the Global Higher Education Cybersecurity Consortium.
She will be recognized at the YWCA’s Annual Leader Lunch on Friday, Dec. 2.
