Explore Global Issues in a New Light
Developing an international outlook involves examining issues of global importance from different angles. In being able to appreciate the many perspectives of our world, students can develop a more informed and nuanced understanding of global issues.
Regina May Dolot is a student at WVPU currently completing her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. She spoke of her experience learning in an environment that celebrated an international mindset: “As a business student, what stood out to me the most about WVPU is that it prepared me to thrive in a diverse world and it exposed me to a broad range of ideas and strategies from international guests and speakers.”
Regina highlights how rewarding it was to be exposed to new ideas from international speakers at WVPU.
The above example goes to show that even students pursuing a business administration degree will learn from a degree that considers concepts such as international business law, accounting, international marketing, , international political economy, as part of the core curriculum.
Familiarize Yourself With New Cultures
Cross-cultural communication is an important part of living and working in today’s world. Studying abroad in Vienna exposes you to life in a diverse European city—one that is home to a large number of international students and organizations. Students at WVPU will find endless opportunities to connect with different people, learn about new cultures, and develop their awareness of the global landscape. According to Regina, this multicultural experience is one of the highlights of studying at WVPU. “WVPU will help international students enjoy an experience of a lifetime in Vienna by providing them with an opportunity to enjoy its culture while providing quality education,” says Regina. Her advice to new students is to take the opportunity to step out of their comfort zone. “I know that it can be scary and overwhelming studying in a different country, but it will only give you opportunities and challenges along the way that would be beneficial in the long run.”
Learn about and connect with new cultures while pursuing your undergraduate degree in Vienna.
To make the transition that much easier, WVPU offers language courses and activities to help students engage with the surrounding culture. “WVPU improved my experiences at the university as an international student by providing German classes to help students, like me, learn the national language, since it can be a challenge to communicate outside the real world,” says Regina. “Since there are a lot of social activities presented to students, I feel like it was and still is a great way to establish great friendships and networks along the way that helped me improve on communication.”
Through business administration courses, students also learn to display familiarity with other cultures and languages while identifying the major actors and institutions of international relations. Upon graduating from WVPU, you’ll have a strong awareness of different cultures and the skills needed to engage in a global environment.
Enjoy a Vibrant Community During Your Undergraduate Degree in Vienna
Social activities and faculty support at WVPU are there to bring the community on campus together. “Through simple events like International Food Day, wherein students from different countries bring food or dessert from their own countries, there is already a notable action to celebrate and appreciate various cultures,” says Regina. “One of the most meaningful events I have participated in was Community Week. Not only was it a week full of fun activities that brought the community together but also, we were able to raise donations for a specific organization,” she adds. By learning in a multicultural community, students not only broaden their personal perspectives but also benefit from establishing an international network that lasts a lifetime.
