Webster University Nationally Ranked by WalletHub

Webster UniversityWebster University was ranked as the fifth best university in Missouri, the 23rd best in the Midwest and the 135th best in the United States by WalletHub.

WalletHub is an online organization that offers personal financial services. WalletHub’s annual college rankings are based on metrics that look at overall costs of an education and the average salary earned by a graduate after completing a degree.

Overall, Webster University was ranked 165th out of the 913 institutions included on this year’s national list. When only universities were analyzed, Webster ranked 135th nationally. 

For the Midwest region, Webster ranked 34th out of 234 colleges and universities in the region. When ranking only universities, Webster was 23rd out of 205, nearly tying with the University of Missouri-St. Louis and St. Louis University, which ranked 22nd and 21st, respectively.

In Missouri, Webster was ranked seventh out of 23 institutions included in the ranking. Webster was fifth out of the 14 Missouri universities, and fourth out of the 10 independent nonprofits in the state that were ranked.

For the purposes of the WalletHub rankings, a college is defined as an institution that offers bachelor’s degrees and some master’s degrees. A university offers a wide array of graduate degrees and doctoral programs.

According to WalletHub, the company compared 913 colleges and universities across seven key dimensions:

  1. Student selectivity
  2. Cost and financing
  3. Faculty resources
  4. Campus safety
  5. Campus experience
  6. Educational outcomes
  7. Career outcomes.

Those dimensions were analyzed using 30 relevant metrics, which calculated a score between 0 and 100, with 100 representing the best school performance and the most favorable conditions for undergraduate students during and after attendance.
