Webster University celebrated a series of significant collaborations and milestones
during the visit of its President Julian Schuster and Director-General for Webster’s
Global Campuses, Ryan Guffey, to Uzbekistan. The visit included key meetings and the
signing of memoranda with prominent educational and healthcare institutions in the
country.
On Sept. 7, the guests embarked on a visit to Bukhara State University, where they
engaged in a pivotal memorandum signing ceremony with Rector Obidjon Khamidov, cementing
the partnership between the two institutions. The meeting between Webster University
and Bukhara State University's leadership was a platform to explore collaboration
possibilities and enhance educational offerings, namely in the graduate studies. Such
interactions contribute to internationalization efforts and promote educational excellence
at both institutions.
Continuing their mission to forge meaningful connections, Schuster and Guffey also visited Bukhara State Medical Institute the same day, meeting with Rector Shukhrat Djumaevich Teshaev and the leadership team to sign a memorandum, further solidifying the commitment to collaborations in the realm of medical education and research.
Furthermore, Webster University leadership visited Samarkand Institute of Economics and Service where they, with the institute’s leadership, organized mechanisms to provide Webster’s MA TESOL and MBA programs at their location. Following, President Schuster and Director-General Guffey visited Samarkand State University, where they met with the university's rector, Rustam Kholmurodov and the leadership team to discuss program offerings, potential collaborations, and areas of mutual interest. It was an opportunity for the leadership of both institutions to engage in a dialogue and explore ways to enhance educational opportunities for students. The parties signed a memorandum of understanding to formalize the collaboration and solidify the partnership of provisions related to academic exchanges, joint research projects, and the development of specific programs discussed during the meeting.
A highlight of the Uzbekistan-USA first healthcare week, scheduled for Sept. 6-9, was the Medical Forum which was organized by the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Uzbekistan. At this forum, President Schuster was bestowed the prestigious "Healthcare Excellence of the Republic of Uzbekistan" badge by Amrillo Inoyatov, the Minister of Health of the Republic of Uzbekistan, recognizing his exceptional contributions to healthcare education and global healthcare initiatives.
The most pivotal and historic moment of the forum was the signing ceremony of a memorandum of understanding between medical institutions and organizations from both Uzbekistan and the United States. This event marked a significant step forward in fostering collaboration and synergy between these two nations in the field of healthcare and medical education. This momentous occasion not only strengthens the bonds between these two nations but also opens the door to new opportunities, collaborations, and innovations that will undoubtedly benefit healthcare professionals, researchers, and students in both Uzbekistan and the United States.
As a continuation of the fruitful discussions during the forum, Webster University signed memoranda with two organizations: the Academy of Labor and Social Relations of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Samarkand Institute of Economy and Service, further reinforcing the university's commitment to fostering international collaborations and academic offerings. This event also underscored the dedication of Webster University to advancing global education and healthcare initiatives, promoting cultural exchange, and strengthening international partnerships.
