A new certificate in data analytics will be offered by Webster University in the fall of 2024. The program will be available at Webster’s main campus in St. Louis, its location at Fort Jackson and online.

“This is an exciting addition to Webster’s wide array of programs that are designed to meet the demands in the job market,” said Walker School of Business & Technology Dean Simone Cummings. “Created at the request of the U.S. Army, this certificate will help employees gain additional skills that will make them more valuable to their employers and more in demand on the job market.”

Studies have shown that data analytics skills are among one of the fastest growing fields in the job market. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the number of jobs that will require data analytics skills is expected to grow by 36% in the next decade, a net gain of nearly 170,000 new jobs.

Data analytics is the science of interpreting vast amounts of complex data to help businesses make sound decisions. In the program, students will integrate business concepts as well as key methods and tools for large-size data modeling, analysis and solving challenging problems involving "Big Data." The certificate program includes six classes (18 units) that comprehensively cover statistics, mathematics, computer science, business, accounting, finance and management techniques.
