Webster Univeristy's Main Campus

Five of Webster University’s programs were listed as among the best online programs in the United States in the 2025 U.S. News & World Report Online Programs Rankings. The rankings were revealed this morning.

Two of Webster’s programs were ranked in the top 100 nationally, and a third rose more than 30 spots from last year’s list.

“Webster excels in offering groundbreaking and excellent online programs that can meet students where they are, making it possible for many with families, full-time jobs or living in areas that are not close to a campus to earn a degree and achieve their academic goals,” said Webster University President Julian Z. Schuster. “The fact that we have multiple programs listed is a testament to our faculty and staff and their dedication to helping students succeed.”

One program made the national list for the first time. The online Criminal Justice program was listed at #59 nationally, tying four other schools for that spot.

“I am thrilled to see our Law, Crime and Social Justice program receive this national recognition, but it is due to the incredible talents that our faculty share with our students daily,” said Department Chair Robin Jefferson Higgins. “Our faculty offer a holistic view of criminal justice, from policing tactics and legal jurisprudence to court decisions and the impacts of incarceration.”

Last year, Webster's online Information Technology programs made the list for the first time. This year, those programs are back again, and are ranked in the 74-97 range among all programs in the U.S. Programs at Webster included in that ranking include the master's degrees in Information Technology Management, Cybersecurity Operations, Cybersecurity with an emphasis in Data Analytics, and Cybersecurity with an emphasis Artificial Intelligence.

Webster’s online Master’s in Education program continues to rise in the rankings. Two years ago, it was listed at #245. Last year it was at #214. This year it is at #180, an increase of 34 spots. Programs included in that category include the master's in Education and Innovation, Reading, Special Education with an emphasis in Applied Behavior Analysis, and Special Education with an emphasis in Specialized Approaches for Exceptional Learners.

Webster’s non-MBA Master’s in Business Programs also have made the list at #137. This category has been ranked for several years. It includes the master's in Business and Organizational Security Management, Human Resources Development, Human Resources Management, Management and Leadership, Procurement and Acquisitions Management, Marketing, Organizational Development and Change, and Finance.

Webster’s onlne MBA program also was ranked, landing at #265 and earning an individual spot on the list.

According to U.S. News & World Report, this year’s Best Online Programs ranking evaluated more than 1,600 online bachelor's and master's degree programs using metrics specific to online learning.
