Webster Advertising and Marketing Communications Student Wins Ad Club Scholarship

Myra Nelson, a senior studying Advertising and Marketing Communications at Webster, was one of three students to win the 2016 American Advertising Federation's Ad Club Scholarship, now known as the Terry Baer Memorial Scholarship. Nelson and her professor Kristen DiFate, associate professor and Advertising Program coordinator in the School of Communications, were recognized at the Ad Club 2016 Reunion Dinner at Kingside Diner in the Central West End.

An affiliate of the American Advertising Federation (AAF), Ad Club of Saint Louis, supports members who work or seek to work in the advertising field by creating connections amongst its members, encouraging high standards of practice within the industry, and honoring those who achieve it.

Every year the organization accepts applications from local and regional undergraduate students for the opportunity to win a $1,000 scholarship and network with area professionals. Students are required to submit a resume, transcripts, essay, and letter of recommendation from a faculty member in order to be considered.

DiFate, who wrote Nelson’s recommendation letter, described her as a talented, motivated and focused student whose “dedication and zeal fuels her creativity and drives her desire to excel.” Nelson has completed three internships before graduation, which has taken her from Hamburg, Germany to Chicago, Illinois. "From a Cheree Berry Paper production intern to an art direction internship at Osborn Barr, she never turns down an opportunity to immerse herself in the advertising industry," DiFate said.
