Officials from Webster University and Jefferson College sign several articulation agreements

Webster University and Jefferson College officials introduced a new program that will allow Jefferson students to transfer to Webster University and earn bachelor’s degrees from Webster’s School of Communications and Webster’s nursing program in the College of Science of Health. The agreement was signed on July 7.

Under the program, Jefferson students completing an Associate of Applied Science degree in Digital Communications can transfer up to 90 credits to Webster and apply them to Webster’s Bachelor of Arts in Media Production with a Certificate in Interactive Marketing Communications, Bachelor of Arts in Media Studies with a Certificate in Social Media Management, Bachelor of Arts in Media Production, Bachelor of Arts in Integrated Strategic Communications, or Bachelor of Arts in Media Studies.  Students will be able to complete their bachelor’s degree in two years/four semesters or less.  Students also have can earn a certificate for no extra additional tuition dollars or time.

Jefferson Students who earn an Associate of Applies Science degree in nursing can apply their credits to a Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Webster. Additionally, Webster and Jefferson announced a dual nursing degree, allowing students to simultaneously work on an associate and bachelor’s degree in nursing at both institutions.

“This partnership will give Jefferson College students new opportunities to pursue their educational goals while also containing costs,” said Webster University Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs Thao Dang-Williams. “By continuing their education at Webster, these Jefferson College students will be able to earn their bachelor’s degree while using the state-of-the-art technology and smart classrooms in the School of Communications’ Sverdrup Complex and in Browning Hall, Webster’s science building, preparing them to take on the jobs of the future on the day after they finish their program.”

“Agreements like this are important because they help our students get to where they want to be in their educational journey,” said Jefferson College President Dena McCaffrey. “These collaborations make our institutions more successful, which in turn make our students more successful.”

Under the agreement, credits earned in 100/1000 level classes or above at Jefferson College can be transferred. Students must have earned a passing grade to qualify. Students will be eligible to participate in the program this fall.

The agreement is one of several that have been signed between Webster and Jefferson. In 2024, the two institutions signed a similar agreement that allows Jefferson biology students to transfer into Webster’s Bachelor of Arts in Biology and Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences programs. In 2022, Webster launched the Heartland Promise Initiative, a program at Jefferson College which encourages students to pursue four-year college degrees. Scholarships are awarded to offset the costs of tuition, books, and room and board.
