Central Florida Holds First Joint Commencement Ceremony

Faculty, staff and students from Webster's Central Florida campus locations united on Saturday, May 7, for the first-ever Florida campus commencement ceremony at the Linda Chapin Theater in Orlando.

Until this year, each campus had conducted individual ceremonies, but a new tradition was born by combining all graduation ceremonies into one.

Over 430 students were cheered on by the crowd of more than 2,500 friends and family members.

The Orange County Sheriff's Pipe and Drum Corp led the procession, and Webster's associate vice president for U.S. extended campuses, Donovan Outten, served as commencement speaker.

Commencement at Webster University

Across the network of Webster campuses around the world, local ceremonies will continue throughout the summer and into the fall depending on local schedule.

The largest of these is in St. Louis, where Webster University was founded in 1915, and where its 97th commencement ceremony was held at The Muny in Forest Park. Overall, there are 6,423 graduates this year, bringing Webster's alumni network to over 180,000 around the world.
