Armbruster Presenting in South Africa

Karla Armbruster, professor in the English Department in Webster's College of Arts and Sciences, will travel to South Africa at the end of March for several activities.

She will deliver a plenary lecture, “Dog Stories, Domestication, and Our Feral Future,” at a conference entitled Dogs in Southern African Literatures at Stellenbosch University. While at Stellenbosch, she will also visit an honors class studying literary theory to talk about ecocriticism and offer a lunchtime seminar sponsored by the Department of Afrikaans and Dutch.

Before the conference, Armbruster will deliver the same lecture at Rhodes University in Grahamstown, sponsored by the English Department there.

Roberts Receives Visionary Leader Award

Joe Roberts was recognized with the inaugural Visionary Leader Award by Self-Employment in the Arts (SEA) at the organization's 17th annual conference Feb. 24-25. Roberts is chair of the Management Department and associate professor of Entrepreneurship in Webster's George Herbert Walker School of Business & Technology.

Roberts, who serves on the SEA advisory board, also presented at the conference.

Cosic Film Screening in Plymouth, U.K.

"It Can't Go Forever"
From "It Can't Go Forever #1"

Zlatko Ćosić's "It Can't Go Forever #1" will screen as part of "Time is Love Screening," an international video art program, at Plymouth University, Drake Circus, Plymouth, United Kingdom, in conjunction with Future Imperfect Symposium.

The screening is on April 1.

Cosic is a video artist and adjunct faculty member in the Electronic and Photographic Media Department of Webster's School of Communications.

Mossotti Presents at TEDx Gateway Arch (St. Louis)

English Department adjunct faculty member and Webster alumnus Travis Mossotti was a featured presenter at the 2016 TEDx Gateway Arch in St. Louis in December.

Mossotti’s talk focused on how anyone can find his or her place in the world like a poet. Through awareness, vulnerability, and passionate intensity, Mossotti outlines the three simple tools poets use in order to be more fully integrated into the places through which they pass on a daily basis, and he invites audience members look deeper at the unremarkable moments of life to discover the beauty that rarely gets noticed.
