Dippel Elected Chair of Department of Business

Dippel will begin leading the department on June 1, 2017.
As chair, he looks forward to building upon the department's accomplishments in course
content and course/program delivery improvements. Dippel will also encourage a greater
focus on the recognition and appreciation of risk in business as well as the expansion
of technology application, including Excel, SAP and Tableau.
"It is essential that we do what is necessary to differentiate ourselves from our
competitors and provide our students with the skills to be successful," Dippel said.
"Rich Dippel is a consummate professional and I look forward to working with him during
his tenure as chair," said Simone Cummings, dean-designate of the Walker School. "Under his leadership, the forensic accounting program has grown significantly,
and this new opportunity will enable him to take a larger and more visible role in
the enhancement of academic programs across the Department of Business."
Dippel holds a BS/BA, MBA and JD from St. Louis University. His areas of teaching
include legal procedure, discovery and litigation support with respect to forensic
accounting, accounting information systems, ERP systems, business analytics, and advanced
financial accounting. Dippel's research areas include electronic discovery in forensic
accounting, the application of ERP systems, and business analytics in the classroom.
He has been published in The Journal of Accounting, Ethics and Public Policy; St. Louis Lawyer; and The Journal of Forensic and Investigative Accounting.
