Rodney, Westmoreland Present Doctoral Research at AECT International Conference
Basiyr Rodney, associate professor and department chair of education technology in the School of Education, and adjunct faculty member Kelli Westmoreland presented research on the barriers that teachers face when attempting to utilize Multimodal Internet Resources. The presentation was delivered at the Association for International Communications and Technology (AECT.org) international conference.
Westmoreland discussed her novel method for selecting, evaluating, and using Multimodal Internet Resources in the classroom, presenting "The MILA Method: Developing TPACK within K-12 ELA Teachers." The paper was presented at on Nov. 2.
The conference presentation was one of 800 peer-reviewed presentations that was selected for presentation. The convention continues until Nov. 7. Conference materials are available online at AECT.org.

Jong Bum Kwon, associate professor of cultural anthropology in the Department of Global Languages, Cultures and Societies, recently published his research article “Forging Workers of Iron: The Politics of Memory and the Performance of Revolutionary Promise” in the international, peer-reviewed Korea Journal.
Kwon examines and compares the cultural politics of mass candlelight vigils in South Korea (2006, 2008, 2016), which attracted millions of participants, with the militant labor and democratization movements of the 1960s, 1980s and early 2000s. His research shows contemporary social movements are driven less by coherent ideological commitments than by an emergent politics of precarity--economic and social insecurity--an analysis which has bearing on the kinds of protests emerging across the globe.
Cosic Films Screening in November
Electronic/Photographic Media Department adjunct faculty member Zlatko Ćosić will have three films screening at festivals this month, the St. Louis International Film Festival, and festivals in Portugal and Australia
DESCEND will screen at the St. Louis International Film Festival, from Nov. 5-22, and at the International Limestone Coast Video Art Festival, The Riddoch Arts & Cultural Centre, Mount Gambier, Australia, from Nov. 6-Dec. 6.
COLORBOARDING, 180, SHIFTED and PIZZICATO will screen at the IMAGE PLAY, International Video Art Festival Funchal, Madeira, Portugal Nov. 5-6.
