Maintaining Academic Integrity at Webster University

Academic work is challenging—as students you are expected to manage classes, demonstrate critical thinking, and be responsible for your own learning. In addition, you are expected to maintain academic integrity as a college student.

Academic integrity means exhibiting honest behavior and taking responsibility for all of the academic work you submit. It also means giving credit to all of your sources and using proper documentation in a paper assignment or project. When you display academic integrity, you can take pride in knowing that you are a part of an academic community of students and faculty who also work hard to uphold the same values of honesty, trust, fairness and equity.

Part of maintaining academic integrity is using the resources available to students, faculty, advisors and staff at Webster University. The ARC website Academic Integrity at Webster provides resources that explains documentation styles and helps students navigate through frequently asked questions.

Academic Integrity Week

Academic Integrity Week is Sept. 8-11, 2020, at Webster, and the following workshops will be featured on Zoom:

Academic Integrity for Students
Tuesday, Sept. 8, from 3-4 p.m.

Popcorn and Plagiarism (focus on international students)
Wednesday, Sept. 9, from noon-1 p.m.

Academic Integrity for Faculty
Thursday, Sept. 10, from 3-4 p.m.

Students can also find on the Academic Integrity home page videos that feature Webster faculty members, department chairs, deans and students sharing what academic integrity means to them and the Webster community.

The Writing Center, the Online Writing Center, and the Tutoring Program in the Academic Resource Center serve as resources for students and faculty. NetTutor is also available through WorldClassRoom.
