CMS Student Jerry Chang Places 1st at Chopin International Piano Festival

Webster University Community Music School student Jerry Chang, piano (Ilyashov) is the 1st place winner in the "Piano Talents" (up to age 13) division of the 2021 Chopin International Piano Competition Special Online Edition in Hartford, Connecticut. This competition is directed by “Polish Virtuoso,” Krystian Tkaczewski and presented by the Connecticut Chopin Foundation Inc.
Chang played Kapustin Etude Op.40 No.3 Toccatina for an international panel of judges including:
- Krystian Tkaczewski, Poland/USA - President of Jury
- Armen Babakhanian, Armenia
- Yuri Bogdanov, Russia
- Yunjie Chen, China
- Ian Goh, Malaysia
- Phillip Kawin, USA
- Kanji Kozuta, Japan
- Jong Hwa Park, South Korea
- Poom Prommachart , Thailand
Chang has been participated in the winners concert of XII Chopin International Piano Competition in Hartford on March 21, 2021 (virtual) and has been invited to participate in next year's Competition in March 2022 (in-person). He is also invited to the winners concert of V Tkaczewski International Piano Competition in Poland on July 30 and Aug. 1, 2021.
