Webster Vienna's Mentoring Program 'Dare to Grow Together' is Back
October 28, 2022
Webster Vienna’s Career Services and the Webster Vienna Alumni Association hosted
on Oct. 13 the kick-off event for the 2022 - 2023 mentoring program. Webster Vienna
mentors and mentees introduced themselves and met in person for the first time during
the networking evening.
Samuel R. Schubert, associate director of Webster Vienna Private University and Stefano Cantini, president of the Vienna chapter of the Webster Alumni Association, welcomed the audience and advised the mentees to “take advantage of this unique opportunity because these are highly qualified mentors who are ready to support your growth.”
The keynote address was delivered by Martin Winkler, who serves as an advisory board member, adjunct faculty member in the Department of Business and Management and, until recently, the country manager at Oracle in Vienna. He inspired the audience by sharing valuable personal insights into his own successful career. He discussed how mentoring, both in the role as mentor and mentee, had an important and positive impact on his professional life. His speech set the tone for a wonderful evening.
“I am looking forward to growing as an individual and professional through this program and gain some experience,” said Webster student Sophie McGargee.
Mathilde Samson, another Webster student, said, “I am excited to join the program as I want to hear from people that already work in the fields I am interested in and learn from their experiences.”
The highlight of the evening was the revelation of the 21 assigned tandems for this year's program. Local mentors had the opportunity to meet their mentees in person, while mentors located around the world participated virtually. The rest of the evening was dedicated to networking, where mentees and mentors got to know each other and shared their expectations.
"We strongly believe mentoring to be powerful and the program creates and supports lasting relationships in our community," said Nora Binder, head of the Webster Vienna Human Resources and Careers Services Office. "Personal growth, networking opportunities, and possibilities to explore career paths are a few of many advantages of a mentoring program."
Alexandra Deubner, senior career service officer, was pleased that all mentors and mentees finally came together.
“Thank you to the mentees and the mentors. We wish all tandems all the best for the next months!” Deubner said.
