Webster University Geneva recently hosted its first-ever edition of the internationally renowned Global Game Jam. Organized by game design faculty members Cem Koker and Lisa Manolache, with the support of Pro Helvetia, the event was part of a worldwide initiative where game developers, designers and enthusiasts come together for an intense 48-hour creative challenge.
A Global Celebration of Game Development
The Global Game Jam is an annual event that unites creative minds from across the world in a simultaneous, fast-paced game development challenge. With a surprise theme revealed at the start, participants have just 48 hours to brainstorm, design and develop their own games.
At Webster Geneva, developers from the region and game development students embraced the challenge, forming teams and bringing their unique ideas to life. The atmosphere was electric as artists, musicians, programmers and designers collaborated to build immersive and innovative game experiences.

A Space for Innovation, Learning, and Collaboration
This event was more than just a game jam—it was an opportunity for students and professionals to push their creative and technical boundaries. Whether experienced developers or first-time participants, students could find their place in this collaborative and dynamic environment.

“Seeing the passion and creativity from all participants was truly inspiring,” said Manolache. “The Global Game Jam is an incredible opportunity for students and professionals to experiment, learn and create without limits.”
From concept to execution, teams worked tirelessly over the weekend, supported by Webster Geneva’s Games and Game Design faculty and mentors from the industry. The event provided an immersive, hands-on learning experience that allowed students to develop real-world skills, network with peers and gain insights into game development workflows.
