New Agreement Lets STL Community College Students Easily Transfer into Webster Art Programs
October 14, 2025
A new partnership between Webster University and the St. Louis Community College (STLCC) will allow STLCC students to easily transfer credits into several bachelor’s programs in Webster University’s Leigh Gerdine College of Fine Arts. Students who take advantage of the new agreements could save thousands of dollars in tuition costs and complete both an associate degree and a bachelor’s degree in four years.
The latest partnerships bring the number of pathways for community college students in the region to transfer into Webster University to 24. Called “articulation agreements,” they are part of Webster’s primary mission of bringing education to students who face obstacles to earning a college degree.
“Nationally, the number of students who chose to attend community college first to save money is annually growing exponentially, but many find that it can be difficult to transfer into a four-year undergraduate program as some classes at the community college level are not recognized by the institutions the students wish to attend. These articulation agreements clear many of those barriers,” said Webster Vice President of Academic Affairs Michael Hulsizer. “At Webster, it is our mission to make education more accessible to those who may not have easy access, which is why dedicated employees such as Associate Vice President of Academic Affairs Thao Dang-Williams, Dean Paul Steger, and Professors Noriko Yuasa and Robin Assner-Alvey worked diligently to make these newest partnerships with STLCC a reality.”
Under the agreements:
- STLCC Associate of Fine Arts (AFA) students can transfer into Webster’s Bachelor of Fine Arts in Art with an Emphasis in Studio Art program or Webster’s Bachelor of Fine Arts in Art with an Emphasis in Studio Photography program.
- STLCC Associate of Arts (AA) students can transfer into Webster’s Bachelor of Fine Arts in Art with an Emphasis in Studio Art program;
- STLCC Associate of Applied Science (AAS) students can transfer into Webster’s Bachelor of Fine Arts in Graphic Design program.
- Students can transfer up to 90 credit hours of coursework that is part of the associate
degree programs.
Just last month, Webster announced similar agreements with Southwestern Illinois College (SWIC) that allows students to transfer into business and legal studies programs.
Other similar partnerships with community colleges in the region include:
- Goldfarb School of Nursing – allowing biology students to simultaneously earn an BA in biology and BSN in nursing.
- University of Heath Sciences and Pharmacy – allowing biology students to simultaneously earn a bachelor’s in biology and doctorate in Pharmacy degree, saving the students an entire year of tuition costs and time.
- Jefferson College – Webster and Jefferson have multiple agreements. Jefferson biology students to transfer into Webster’s biology degree; digital communications students can enter Webster’s media studies, integrated strategic communications, and media production programs; and AA nursing students can transfer into Webster’s nursing program, earning simultaneous dual degrees.
- Johnson County Community College – allowing Johnson game development students to transfer into Webster’s games and game design program.
Currently, Webster is in negotiations with several area community colleges to establish more than tow-dozen additional articulation pathways this academic year.
