Great Decisions 2017: Register now

Alumni, students and members of the Webster Community
are invited to Great Decisions 2017, the ever-popular series of current events presentations
and discussions led by Webster University faculty and sponsored by the Webster University
Alumni Association.
The schedule this year will run eight consecutive Monday evenings, March 6 through April 24.
Each talk is from 7-8:30 p.m. in the East Academic Building, rooms 253/262. Space is limited, so registration is required. Reservations are requested by March 3.
Topics in 2017
The Great Decisions series provides a revealing look at eight of the most significant and far-reaching challenges facing the world today. Topics this year include:
- March 6 - Latin America’s Political Pendulum, by Dan Hellinger, professor of International Relations
- March 13 - Conflict in the South China Sea, by Robert Barnidge, visiting assistant professor of History, Politics and International Relations
- March 20 - U.S. Foreign Policy and Petroleum, by Roy Overmann, adjunct professor of History, Politics and International Relations
- March 27 - Nuclear Security, by Kelly-Kate Pease, professor of International Relations
- April 3 - Trade and Politics, by Allan MacNeill, professor of Economics
- April 10 - Prospects of Afghanistan and Pakistan, by Shazia Ahmad, adjunct professor of History, Politics and International Relations
- April 17 - The Future of Europe, by Warren Rosenblum, professor of History
- April 24 - Saudi Arabia in Transition, by Tahmineh Entessar, retired International Relations lecturer

The $25 Great Decisions 2017 Briefing Book, which is required for participation in the series, features impartial, thought-provoking analyses on the eight topics selected for this year’s series. Each article is written by carefully selected experts, and offers questions and tools for discussion, as well as policy options for U.S. officials. The book may be ordered online through the Foreign Policy Association.
