Updated Fall 2020 Course Modalities Information Now Available
August 13, 2020
Webster University is updating its course schedules for the Fall Semester and the Fall 1 Term to show the modalities of classes. Modalities can be seen in student schedules in Connections and in the Power Search Course Schedule.
Important things to know:
Students who review their course schedules are now likely to see changes in the modality.
For example, a course that was scheduled in a classroom might now say “WebNet – Class
meets at home,” which indicates that the class will be taught remotely. From the schedule,
you can click on a helpful set of definitions to understand the different modalities.
In addition to the definitions, faculty members will share additional details on how
their classes will be conducted with students in their classes. (Note: It is possible
that a student would see no changes on his/her schedule. Many classes will be offered
face-to-face in classrooms, though with social distancing and other safety measures.
Online courses have not changed in any way.)
It’s important to know that not all Fall schedule changes are completed.
For example, classroom locations/numbers may change. These changes may occur because,
as happens every year, there are students who register late and/or who change their
schedules. Webster is monitoring enrollments in classes closely this Fall to make
sure we maintain social distancing and reduced density, so some classes will need
to be moved to meet this need. Because additional changes may be made, you should
check schedules again prior to the start of classes.
As always, typical start-of-year course adjustments may be made, including cancellation of courses with low enrollment.
Be sure to check your schedule the day of class in order to ensure that you have the
most up-to-date information about your class.
Also, check your Webster email and access your course in WorldClassRoom (Canvas) to
ensure that you receive any messages sent to you by your instructor. In WorldClassRoom,
check your Inbox as well as your Announcements for each course.
As described in the Student Academics FAQ on the COVID-19 site, if you have questions about your Fall classes, contact your assigned Academic Advisor or the Academic Advising Center with questions. Contact advising@webster.edu, 314-968-6972, or 800-982-3847. The FAQs also provide answers for students who want to make changes in their schedules.
