School of Communications to Host Annual Media Academy

Webster University's School of Communications will host its annual Media Academy on Wednesday and Thursday, March 24-25. The free event will be hosted over Zoom this year, and will feature a keynote speaker, student showcase, and various workshops.

Seth Geiger, president and founding partner of SmithGeiger, will be the keynote speaker at 10 a.m. CST on Wednesday. He will speak about Media Driven Consensus and Conflict in a Pandemic World. Workshop leaders include executives from Brado, MasterCard, Paradowski, and SmithGeiger.

The Academy will also have a student showcase on Thursday from 1-2:30 p.m. CST. Students’ work will be posted on the main webpage before the event for review and the showcase time will be utilized for direct interaction with the students.

Workshops will be held at 12 p.m. and 2 p.m. CST on Wednesday and again at 9, 10, and 11 a.m. CST on Thursday, and include topics about industry trends, and responding to immediate concerns such as vaccine campaign strategies, post-COVID-19 work and new skill sets, and revising social media content regulation.
