Webster University Welcomes the Liberty Clarinet Quartet and Midwest Winds Quintet To Campus

The Liberty Clarinet Quartet and the Midwest Winds Quintet

The Webster University Department of Music is excited to host the Liberty Clarinet Quartet and Midwest Winds Quintet as they perform at the Thompson House Recital Hall, located at the Webster Groves campus, this September.

Both ensembles are from the United States Air Force (USAF) Band of Mid-America and stationed at Scott Air Force Base in Illinois. The Liberty Clarinet Quartet will perform on Thursday, Sept. 7 at noon, and the Midwest Winds Quintet will perform on Thursday, Sept. 14 at noon.  The Webster community and general public are invited to attend.

"The USAF Band of Mid-America is one of the region's great musical resources," said Paul Davis, Webster director of instrumental studies. "Webster has enjoyed a long and vital relationship with the USAF Band of Mid-America. Over the years, many airmen have chosen Webster to pursue graduate degrees, and many current and retired musicians perform in Webster University ensembles and recitals alongside students and faculty. These (concerts) are invaluable experiences for the Webster community."

The Liberty Clarinet Quartet and Midwest Winds Quintet honor and inspire our military and civilian audiences by presenting a wide variety of musical literature, from traditional, classical repertoire to marches and jazz. They also support music students, providing concerts and clinics in an educational environment. Each program blends inspiration and entertainment with special programming for younger audiences. Whether performing for a head of state, before a capacity crowd in their 10-state touring area, or for our troops at home or abroad, these ensembles reflect the heritage and pride of our nation and the United States Air Force.
